Wooden substantial double width mechanical Grand Father Clock. The clock has filigree black hands, a small black second hand and Roman numerals set against a brass patterned clock face. Above the clock face the present phase of the moon is shown. A large brass pendulum swings with the ticking of the clock.
This beautiful mechanical Grand Father clock marks each hour with chimes and a medody with a medody marks the half hour. The quarter hours are marked with a single chime. The clock can run for 7 days at each winding and has two brass encased weights which have have to be drawn up to set the clock ticking. The weights and pendulum are accessed with a door to the main clock cabinet with a second door over the clock face to access the clock hands. Two smaller doors open each side of the clock face to access the mechanism. All doors have bevelled glass.
The case is mirror backed and has chamferred sides and hand carved decoration to the pedestal and top. There are two carved Grecian columns to each side of the clock face and the front of the cabinet. Yew fretwork decorates the top of both sides of the cabinet and yew inserts are either side of the clock face and the door to the weights and pendulum.
